Description
One of my favorite winter memories took place in the very small town of West Kill, New York, settled in the Catskills and Hudson Valley. I was here for a creative retreat, and we arrived just in time for a major snow storm.
The morning after we were blanketed with snow, I went on a wander through the snow. I got up close and personal with nature, and really took in all that was Spruceton Road.
Spruceton Road is lined with towering spruce and hemlock, some birch, and a few token fir trees, and in 2015 when I was here, it felt like a journey back in time, where mist lingers in the snowy hollows and the mountains cradle the horizon. Perhaps the coolest and most unexpected moment was when a blue-eyed horse that approached us. What a beauty.
This candle can be paired with my prints from Spruceton Road, and if you're ever looking for a quiet retreat, Spruceton Inn is such a wonderful gathering place for artists, hikers and dreamers seeking stillness.
